Last week President Trump announced that he was rescinding President Obama’s rule allowing transgenders to serve openly in the military.

There has been some speculation that Trump made the decision as a way to avoid the budget battle over how much the government should be spending to provide surgeries for transgender servicemen and women.

The decision has caused a firestorm of controversy (as most of his decisions seem to do, unfairly or not), and many people have added their voices to the conversation about the appropriateness of the President’s decision.

The media has mostly sided against President Trump and even some Republican leaders, like Senator John McCain (R-AZ), have spoken against the decision. However, the President’s rule change seems to be sitting well with the people it will most affect… the men and women of our armed services.

President Trump continues to enjoy the overwhelming support of active and retired service-members, and one of those veterans recently spoke up to support the President’s decision on transgender soldiers.

J.R. Salzman is a writer, and a wounded warrior who served his country in Iraq and he recently delivered a passionate and logical defense of President Trump’s decision on transgenders in the military.

His argument quickly went viral with thousands of people chiming in to the conversation – which you can see below:
