Sergeant-at-Arms of the Canadian House of Commons, Mr. Kevin Vickers, is a humble man who acted accordingly, promptly, and without regard for his personal safety when he heard “shots fired” in the halls of his charge – The House of Commons. Pictured below is Sergeant-at-Arms Vickers walking immediately post shooting with his pistol still in his right hand. It was that pistol Sergeant-at-Arms Vickers fired to take out the terrorist who already had killed one and shot another and was shooting in the halls when the shooter was engaged by Mr. Vickers. Mr. Vickers did what he had to do on his watch to maintain the safety of all within “his building,” especially the members of the Canadian Parliament. There is another video below showing the gratitude the members of Parliament have for their Sergeant-at-Arms. Mr. Vickers is a silent and non-seeking hero. He ran towards the shots, not away. There are not many who would do the same; those that do are a special breed. Please enjoy the videos of a quiet and non-seeking hero.
A man, acting accordingly.
Doing What He Had To Do
In the midst of the recent terroristic horror in Canada a hero arose. An older man who held what seemed to be a ceremonial post, the Sergeant-At-Arms. His name is Kevin Vickers. This is his picture below.
But Sergeant Vickers took his job seriously, as he should. An evil man came into the building he was sworn to protect. That vile bit of humanity killed a soldier in cold blood. Then he did a little dance and headed toward the hall where the Canadian Parliament was meeting. Sergeant Vickers then did what men used to do in such circumstances. He did not wait or overly concern himself with his own safety. He confronted the bad guy, who still had a rifle, and shot him up close and personal with his own pistol. He did what was right.
Here is a screen capture of the video that was released by The Globe And Mail:
He did what he had to do, and then calmly walked back to his post. Vickers is the man in the center facing forward.
The Canadian Parliament reconvened the next morning. They are clearly more into the ceremony of it all than our US Congress. Do not let that throw you off. They did what was right as well. They gave a long standing ovation to the man that protected them.
If you have a few minutes, watch how our Canadian friends honor their hero. It is worth the watch:
THIS, my friends is how you treat a hero.
Given half the chance, there are those among us that will still stand up and do what is right under any circumstances. There are heroes among us that are willing to risk all to do what must be done. Sergeant-At-Arms Kevin Vickers did what he had to do!
