(Voice of the Persecuted) The wife of American pastor, Saeed Abedini who is imprisoned in Iran because of his Christian beliefs, is traveling to Washington DC to speak before Congress. The House Foreign Affairs Committee will be examining the imprisonment of three American hostages in Iran, including her husband. On Tuesday, the families of the hostages will testify before them.
Recently, Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) urged the administration to include the release of the American prisoners in the nuclear deal. He said, “One troubling aspect of these negotiations is the Obama administration’s refusal to require any deal with Iran to include the release of the three Americans imprisoned by the regime, including a Marine Corps veteran.”
He also spoke out on social media:
Naghmeh Abedini is relying on faith and leaning on Christ as she endures the painful separation from her husband and prepares to speak on his behalf. As we stand with our sister in Christ, let her words also encourage your own faith to endure the often unbearable trials we may face. In Christ, nothing is impossible! PRESS IN…may His glory be revealed!
1 Peter 4:12-14 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation. If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
Naghmeh shares with us,
“I am overcome with so many emotions. How can I be so very broken, my heart longing for the day that our family is reunited again, and yet be so overwhelmed by the presence of the Lord and His Loving Kindness? This time of brokenness has only allowed me to taste and to see that God is Good and to fall more in love with Jesus.
I know that He has chosen this weak and broken vessel to declare His Goodness and His Salvation to everyone and anyone who will hear. He has taken me before kings and government officials because He cares so very deeply for them. Just as He cares for our family, He also cares that they hear how much God loves them and wants them to look to Him. I can not begin to comprehend why and how He has opened such doors during such broken and weak time in my life, but I am thankful. I am thankful that God is using our time of trial for His Glory. I am glad that God has used our trial to strengthen each of you (my dear Facebook friends) during your times of trial and suffering.
Please pray for me to speak with boldness before our congress on Tuesday. I am not a politician. I am not a lawyer. I am not a public speaker. I am simply a wife and a mother who loves her family and Jesus deeply. I need your prayers.”
