In Support of Israel

I have thought about this for days, weeks now…writing about Israel. So much is going on…
I think it is apparent that we here at The Olive Branch Report support Israel, and that is not going to change.

Think about this for a moment if you will, making a choice to oppose Israel even in your own heart is the same as making a choice against God the Father Himself. Whoa…wait a minute here…is that not a little too strong? Actually no it is not.

Zachariah 2:8 For this is what the LORD Almighty says: “After he has honored me and has sent me against the nations that have plundered you–for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye—

No other nation, no other people have been called the “apple of his eye”. Whoever sets their hand against Israel sets their hand against God’s chosen people.

How about our very salvation?

Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

The Apostle Paul did not word this verse this way by accident. God wanted us to know that the Jews are His chosen people. All will receive salvation that call upon the Lord and repent of sin…but the Jewish people are still His chosen people. This also extends to the nation, the land of Israel…not just the people.

Genesis 15:18 On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates–

People and countries that are for dividing up Israel, which unfortunately include the U.S. are taking a stand against God Himself. These countries, these people; are as if they are walking up to God, removing the glove and slapping God across the face. This of course signifies a challenge to a duel. Anyone think that they can beat God at anything, let alone challenging His sovereign claim over Israel? Think this is too strong a statement? Think again.

Joel 3:1-2 “In those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning my inheritance, my people Israel, for they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.

Does this not sum it up well? “They” (the nations) divided up my (God) land. I have news for you…”they” are about to get into serious trouble; God will judge them. This would include the U.S. No one is to try dividing Israel…ever.

Yet nations, terror organizations, and many people are all for taking Israel’s land away. Actually many are for just completely wiping Israel from the face of the Earth. This comes as no surprise really. I’m reminded of this verse…

John 15:18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.

Jesus was telling the disciples that the world hates Him; therefore the world will hate the disciples as well. Lets take this a little further; the world hates Jesus, so the world will hate all Believers in Him, it is happening more and more. So, the world will also and especially hate God’s chosen people Israel.

Look at World War Two, do you think WW2 was about Hitler grabbing power and ruling the world? Good guess, but wrong. WW2 was Satan’s handiwork. Don’t think so? Hitler was out to wipe the Jews of off the face of the Earth, now who do you think put that idea into Hitler’s head? WW2 was about exterminating the Jews…no Jews no end time Kingdom right? Except Satan forgot one little detail…God always wins.

Nations that align themselves against Israel are inviting severe judgment and retaliation from God.

Zechariah 12:3 On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.

The question is not “will Israel fall?” it will not. The question is “are you on God’s side…or the worlds side”. You cannot have it both ways you know…

What a great post. when God said no weapon formed against me shall prosper He was making sure that those who would even consider going against His land and people would be under His covering. The LORD Almighty has made it clear throughout His word that Israel is a special place and anyone who does not bless Israel will be cursed. There are no other people groups in the entire world that has survived, only the Jews. That ought to tell you something. But God loves those grafted in just as much as the original branches. So there is no difference in His sight between Jew and Gentile, there are only those who truly know their savior, their Messiah, Yeshua HaMassiach!!!

I am very grateful that while the Jews are the apple of His eye and His chosen people, that He was gracious enough to come to the Gentiles as well. I would hope that more believers would care about Israel. I have been encouraged to see several FB friends support pages supporting Israel. For the most part though, I fear that most believers haven’t a clue or just don’t care. They will only when something bad happens to us.

Israel should be supported period. Aside from that this country has plenty to damn it aside from Israel. Israel and what the U.S. is doing to them is like the icing on the cake so to speak…

Agreed that they should be supported but do you think the general population cares? Christians of all people (and of course Jews) should have a love for her because of the Lord we serve. Yes, the U.S. has plenty to be damned for even if we supported them. I am thinking though from the viewpoint of a believer who should love and support her and from what I personally see from a lot of believers is that they couldn’t care less.

    Amen Brother!

People of the world need to wake up. Unfortunately they cannot see what is happening without God’s intervention.

I pray for the Lord to remove the scales from the eyes of the wicked. To soften their hearts and turn them from their sinful ways. I pray for the peace of Israel and the Jewish people, for their protection, peace, comfort and wisdom. Amen

    God bless my friend!

I think saying the Talmud is satanic goes a little to far. Many things that are Jewish custom are fine, nothing wrong with them. A peoples customs are not wrong unless those customs have a direct bearing on whether or not a people group believes in Christ. If a Jewish person celebrates Jewish festivals and believes in Jesus as Savior, how is that wrong? I pray the Jewish people DO accept Yeshua…that would be wonderful.
You may wish to keep in mind that one of our authors is a messianic Jewish Rabbi whom I have nothing but the utmost respect for. Let’s treat our Jewish brothers and sisters well. Criticizing them is not how we will bring them to Jesus, and many have converted to belief in Christ and more will yet.

      Blessings

Thanks for such a great reply. I worked with a pastor who left the regular church to head his own Messianic congregation. He use to hold Seder’s at our church and brought in for special occasions, a singer by the name of Marty Goetz, who led us in worship with Jewish style hymns about Christ. It was fantastic. His knowledge of the Old Testament and his messages on such were like none I’ve ever heard. Jewish customs however are worth keeping and are in some ways more meaningful and respectful than a lot of what goes on in Christianity today. The Jews who do not accept Christ are still blinded but even in their blindness, many show more reverence for God than a lot of ‘believers’. Pray for the salvation of the Jews that they may come to know Yeshua HaMaschiach.

Greg, thank you for your comments and your love for the Jewish nation and people. The Talmud is not satanic by any means, it was written by Rabbis as an extension of the Torah. These writings are taken from what the Rabbis called the oral law, passed down from generations and put into a sacred Jewish book along with the Gemara. Both are intended to help Jews in their Halakha, or walk with the LORD. Although these are interpretations by man, most Jews consider the Talmud as a book of instruction and teaching. The collection of Rabbis that are combined into the Talmud were not believers in Yeshua, however just as in the Old Teatament, Yeshua can be found throughout these teachings.
        God bless,
        Rabbi Eric

I probably should have been a little more clear…sorry about that. Yes…the Talmud is in NO way satanic, that is silly to even think so.
I look forward to learning more from you Rabbi Eric! 🙂
          God bless

Israel and her people was chosen by God through whom He would bring for the Savior of all people. That was His choice and for that reason we bless Israel and we pray for the Jewish people. It has been said that as Israel goes, so goes the rest of the world. Never was there a more important time for us to stand with Israel and to continue in our prayers for them. We honor God when we bless Israel. For that reason he promises blessings to those who do.
