On Wednesday morning the directors of the FBI, CIA, and the NSA all appeared before the Senate Intelligence Committee to testify about the ongoing witch hunt into the Trump administration. Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Dan Coats was also in attendance.
NSA Director Mike Rogers and Director of National Intelligence Jim Coats both testified before Congress this morning, and both men unequivocally told Congress that President Trump has “NEVER” tried to pressure them on their investigations.
Rogers told the Senate Intelligence Committee: “In the three-plus years that I have been director of the national security agency, I have never been directed to do anything I believe to be illegal, immoral, unethical or inappropriate and to the best of my recollection during that same period of service I do not recall ever feeling pressured to do so.”
Democrat Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) seemed wholly unsatisfied with the testimony from Admiral Rogers and decided to show his upset by badgering Admiral Rogers for not condemning President Trump. You can see the whole exchange below, and listen for when Warner tell Rogers that he’s “disappointed” with Rodgers’ testimony.
DNI Coats echoed the sentiments shared by CIA Director Rogers: “I have never felt pressured to interfere or intervene in shaping intelligence in any way.”
Shouldn’t these very direct responses to Warner’s very direct questions put an end to the questions about whether or not President Trump was “pressuring” the intelligence community to drop their investigations against him, his team, or Russia? We cannot be more definitive than this.
