Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in Europe this morning meeting with the leaders of Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia, and Poland (often called the V4 countries, or the Visegrad Group). These nations have worked together, in solidarity, to fight back against the European Union’s headlong sprint towards suicide. They have refused to take in the Muslim refugees that continue to pour into Europe, and they have refused to be browbeaten and threatened by the other EU nations for making decisions based on the best interests of their people. (See more on the V4 here, here, and here.) It’s no wonder that Netanyahu saw an opportunity in Central Europe to make new friends and find new opportunities to promote the defense of Israel and the West.
Netanyahu was there specifically to ask that the V4 nations to use their influence in the EU to make it easier for Israel to do business with Europe. The EU has placed severe restrictions on Israel and has said that they will not remove said restrictions unless Israel’s political policies change – something that the EU has asked of no other nation on this planet that it does business with. Not China, Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, Saudi Arabia… only Israel.
“The European Union is the only association of countries in the world that conditions the relations with Israel, that produces technology in every area, on political conditions. The only ones! Nobody does it!… It’s crazy. It’s actually crazy!”
Sadly, because it could create political problems for Israel moving forward, Netanyahu’s private comments to the leaders of the four nations were accidentally broadcast outside the room to the waiting (and listening) ears of the world media.
Believing he was speaking in privacy, Netanyahu used uncommonly harsh language to blast the European Union for their “crazy” policies on Israel.
“I think Europe has to decide if it wants to live and thrive or if it wants to shrivel and disappear. I am not very politically correct. I know that’s a shock to some of you. It’s a joke. But the truth is the truth — both about Europe’s security and Europe’s economic future. Both of these concerns mandate a different policy towards Israel…
During the meeting Netanyahu also praised the V4 countries and encouraged them to continue defending their borders and refusing to admit the countless Muslims refugees that continue to stream into Europe. The Prime Minister also praised President Trump and his administration for the strong position they’ve taken on Iran and Syria and for already proving to be a more reliable ally than the previous administration had been.
Netanyahu framed his commentary to the V4 as being about helping Europe, because in making trade relations with Israel easier, Europe would benefit greatly.
“Please help us, and help Europe, in the expediting this association agreement. It’s not about my interests, Israel’s interest. I’m talking about Europe’s interest… If I can suggest that what comes out of this meeting is your ability, perhaps, to communicate to your colleagues in other parts of Europe: Help Europe… Don’t undermine the one Western country that defends European values and European interests and prevents another mass migration to Europe.
So stop attacking Israel. Start supporting Israel… Start supporting European economies by doing what the Americans, the Chinese and the Indians are doing…
There is no logic here. Europe is undermining its security by undermining Israel. Europe is undermining its progress by undermining the connection with Israeli innovation because of a crazy attempt to create conditions…
We believe it’s in the objective interest of Europe to cooperate with Israel in the fight against terrorism, and technology for the future…”
