The NFL owners, players, advertisers, and stakeholders better wake up and begin to pay attention to what the American people are saying.
The vast majority of Americans agree with President Trump that the NFL (and some NBA) players who have been protesting against the Flag are wrong and should be “punished” for their behavior.
How do we know?
Well, the NFL’s ratings have been tanking ever since early last season, but contrary to the narrative, it didn’t begin with Colin Kaepernick’s protests. No, it began when the leftwing media began to glorify Kaepernick’s protests and other players began to join in on the activity.
We also have actual data from the American people themselves to support our theory.
The Remington Research Group just conducted a nationwide survey in which they asked about these events and how they’ve shaped people’s perceptions of the NFL and their answers were shocking… for the NFL.
64% of Americans agree with President Trump about the NFL protests. 64%!
Q7: Last week, Donald Trump said NFL players should stand and be respectful during the national anthem. Do you think NFL players should stand and be respectful during the national anthem?
50% of Americans say the protests make it LESS LIKELY that they will watch football on Sunday. That’s half the country folks. The NFL is literally telling half the nation to tune out.
Q8: On Sunday, a number of NFL players knelt during the national anthem in protest of Donald Trump’s statements, including players from your favorite team. Does this make you more likely or less likely to watch your favorite team’s games in the future?
More likely: 30%
Less likely: 50%
No difference: 20%
51% of Americans say they are watching LESS football than ever before.
Q4: Now, just thinking about this year, have you watched more football or less football compared to previous years?
More football: 19%
Less football: 51%
About the same: 30%
Why is more than half of the country watching less football?
69% of people watching less football (that’s almost 40% of the country) say that they are watching less because the players won’t stop with the political posturing.
Q5: Why would you say you are watching less football this year?
Players using the NFL as a stage for their political views: 69%
New rules that reduce physical contact: 5%
There are too many games during the week: 6%
Games last too long: 2%
Pace of play is too slow: 2%
Something else: 12%
Also, it’s not the protesting that bothers America, it’s the venue chosen for the protests. Sports are supposed to be an escape for people with real worries and problems, not a place for rich, pampered athletes to complain about their lives.
Almost 70% of Americans don’t support the NFL protests, and most believe that the protests should happen elsewhere.
80% of Americans wish that there was less politics being showcased in sports coverage. Which should be a wake up call for ESPN and other sports broadcasters.
Q9: Do you support protesting during the national anthem at the beginning of NFL games, or is there a more appropriate place for players to protest?
There is a more appropriate place to protest: 60%
Q10: In the future, would you prefer to see more politics, less politics, or the same amount of politics during sporting events?
More politics: 7%
Less politics: 80%
Same amount: 13%
So if you’re keeping score – 80% of Americans want less politics in sports, 64% agree with Trump on the protests, and 50% say they’ll watch less football because of the protests.
Also, if you were wondering, it’s not just Republicans who hate the politics in sports, Democrats and Independents hate it too.
Republicans and Non-Partisans have been cutting back on watching football at a higher rate than Democrats, as 66% of Republicans say they have watched less football this year compared to 33% of Democrats. Among Non-Partisans, 55% reported they have watched less football this year compared to the past.
33% of Democrats and 55% of Independents are with Trump on this issue.
That’s a Big Deal.
The NFL (and ESPN) and other liberal media members better wake up, America is watching… but they soon might not be.
