God is Sovereign“For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?” Isaiah 14:27 (NKJV)
“I know that You can do everything, and that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. “ Job 42:2 (NKJV)
Our God is Sovereign and All Powerful. He created the universe, and that includes mankind. We are told that He holds His children in the palm of His hand. To make things come to pass, He needs only to speak. He calls the stars by name and is in command of an angel army.
How then can we dare to doubt Him or His power? Why do we forget His past faithfulness to us? How can we entertain anxious thoughts and tremble in fear of man when we have Abba Father defending us?
It seems as though many people are forgetting that God is the one in control of everything. Nothing can cause Him to side step. He moves forward at His own pace and in His own time, with no backward retreats. Nothing can annul His intentions or His designs and plans.
Never is He surprised, as He knows all and sees all. The schemes of the Devil are foolish, idiotic, senseless, and weak when compared to His divine power. In fact, the Devil must ask God’s permission to buffet us, as we are told in the book of Job. Even then, we must remember that the trials we must endure and navigate are for our benefit.
Are you living through a sorrow or trial right now? Are you afraid and do you feel like God has abandoned you? Is desperation at your front door knocking and are you in need of advice or wisdom? If so, go to the feet of Jesus. He lives to make intercession for us, both day and night. He never sleeps! There is never a bad time to pray and He will always listen.
This struggle you are now facing has been designed, or permitted, by the One who created you. He knew of it before He knit you together in your mother’s womb. He has orchestrated each one of your trials for your benefit. Even if the Enemy is the one scheming against you, God has a plan of attack and a purpose for the harassment, which will ultimately give you victory and Him glory.
His will and His goal will always find completion. He will never give you a temptation that cannot be resisted. There will always be a way out, with His help. There will never be a sorrow or challenge in your life that can’t be overcome with His grace. He is all-powerful and full of compassion.
Majestic in power is the Lord God almighty. Earth is His footstool and He reigns over all things. He does what He pleases because He is God. He is the beginning and the end.
Thankfully, our God is not a hard taskmaster who cares nothing for His flock. His purposes will always stand, but so will His love and mercy for His sheep. Set aside your fears, your struggles, and your worry. He knows how things will work out for you and they will be for your benefit. Trust Him, He knows what He is doing in your life. Who better to hand over your troubles to than the One who knows all things?
“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all. Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; in Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 (NKJV)
“But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.” Psalm 115:3 (NKJV)
“Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, when the Lord has not commanded it?” Lamentations 3:37 (NKJV)
